Time has a way of breaking things down. A way of decaying and wearing down. It is time that eventually wears down our bodies until we simply cannot function any longer. We are also told that it is time that heals all wounds. But, scars are always left behind aren’t they?
I was attending a car show one sunny afternoon a couple of years ago and came upon a perfect old Ford coupe that looked as though it had just rolled off of the assembly line. A look down the side of the old classic revealed flawless lines and smooth unblemished paint. However, a closer inspection revealed something totally unexpected. The original interior that I anticipated seeing wasn’t there. Beautiful red leather sat proudly on black carpet. The dash was gloss black with beautiful chrome gauges and an old glass compass standing tall to inform the operator of his direction. This car was much better than it had been when originally new.I glanced down on the seat and there open for all to see was a book. A man saw me looking at the car and opened the door. He took the book from the seat and handed it to me. I was shocked at what I saw. For inside that book, pictures told a story that was simply unbelievable. Pictures of the body of this pristine car had been found at the bottom of a ditch in Iowa. The doors were gone and no sign of paint was left. The frame had come from Arizona along with a steering wheel and some other pieces. This car had been driven until it couldn’t function any longer. Then time had its way with the very material that made it what it was.
Then one day a miracle happened that saved the car from its certain demise. The car had no way to save itself. A man saw potential in this discarded broken memory. He didn’t just fix the wounds as we have heard time will do. No, he RESTORED it. He restored it to be even better than it had ever been.
God found me broken, battered, left to receive what I deserved, and He restored my soul. He remade me to be better than I had ever been.
He gave me a new way of looking at things. He restored my faith in me. I can’t even believe in myself without His help.
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures;
He leadeth me beside the still waters.
HE RESTORETH MY SOUL.
How much better can I feel then I do right now. To know that God takes the time to restore my soul is a great feeling. He sees great potential in us. Let Him restore your soul. Get in His word and allow Him to replenish, refresh and restore you.
Remember to always ride the narrow road and stop in and see us again.
